Wednesday 21st October, Working Party near Eskdale , led by Ray Johnson |
|
Nine group members joined ranger Beth and apprentice Liz at Eskdale. Our task this month was to hack through a jungle of gorse which was blocking the line of a footpath adjacent to the "rail trail" from Grosmont to Goathland, which is near Eskdale. The park's plan is to upgrade this path by replacing stiles with gates after we'd cleared a way in . When we first arrived the job looked extremely daunting, but the party split into two groups, each working from opposite ends of the gorse. Eventually they met in the middle and then widened the route. |
